WHAT: A fun, action-packed day of hands-on exposure to Coast Guard rescue techniques and equipment.
WHEN: Saturday, April 26, 2025, any decision to cancel or postpone the event due to weather or military operational commitments will be made by Wednesday April 23
WHO: This event is sponsored jointly by the USCG Special Missions Training Command , the United States Coast Guard Sector North Carolina, United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Division 054-20, and East Carolina Council, BSA. This co-ed event is open to all registered Sea Scouts, Venturers, and Scouts BSA members who are least 14 years old or 13 and attending 8th Grade
Attending adults must not interfere with the Coast Guard program leads. Units are required to bring at least 2 adult leaders to comply with Youth Protection Guidelines.

STAYING OVERNIGHT- There are many hotels accommodations in the Jacksonville North Carolina area for those wishing to stay in hotels. We have made arrangements to camp at Camp Albemarle in the Pines which is about a half an hour from the base. There is $10.00 charge for those wishing to camp for the weekend. We will provide a cracker barrel and social for Friday evening.
BASE ACCESS/ SECURITY: This is a Federal military installation. All scouts and adults must register in advance. Registration deadline is Saturday, April 27, 2024. If a scout or adult is not registered by the April 5, 2025 deadline, they will not be allowed to attend. No exceptions or substitutions will be made. The Marine Corps requires a list of all participants be submitted in a timely manner prior to Safety @ Sea. We will be making special transportation arrangements to transport Scouts on the Base. Cars without drivers who have military IDs will not be allowed on Base. We are asking individuals who have IDs that will give them base access to identify themselves in the registration. Current IDs are recommended for all attending.
Check-In is on Saturday morning, April 26, between 0730 and 0815. Opening will be Saturday morning at 0830 sharp.
WHY: First? FUN! Second: it gives Scouts a chance to participate in activities such as man-over-board drills, flare lighting, keeping damage control trainers “afloat,” seeing a helicopter, and learning more about the various missions of the United States Coast Guard. New activities have been added this year.
HOW MUCH: $35.00 per Scout ($30.00 early registration) which entitles you to an event t-shirt and lunch, as well as participation in the events. $25.00 per Adult Leader. CG and CGAUX Volunteers will attend at no cost but need to register and will have the option of ordering chow and a tee shirt. . REGISTRATION DEADLINE is April 5 2025. No exceptions. After this date, no refunds or substitutions can be made. No refunds will be issued for no-shows.
UNIFORMS: The uniform of the day for Sea Scout youth and adults will be the Official Sea Scout Uniform (aka TOSSU) as illustrated at https://seascout.org/uniforming/. Venturers and Scouts BSA will wear the class A uniform for their respective program. Participants will be issued a t-shirt to wear at the event. The t-shirt is included in registration.
ALSO BRING: Towel, a change of clothing for “wet” activities, sailing gloves if you have any.
Closed-toe shoes must be worn. Flip-flops, open toe shoes, and similar footwear are not allowed. Attendees not wearing proper shoes will not be allowed to participate.

SPECIAL NEEDS: Some of the activities require agility. Please identify any youth that have special needs and be prepared to support their participation.

Required Forms:
Please bring the following forms with you on Saturday. We will hold all AB Medical Forms at the registration table leaders can pick them up at the end of the day
1. BSA Liability Release Medical Form A/B
3. MCIE MCB Camp Lejeune Hold Harmless Agreement
Completed, original forms will be collected at check-in on Saturday, May, 4th 2024. FORM MUST HAVE ORIGINAL SIGNATURE, NO PHOTOCOPIES OR PICTURES OF COMPLETED FORMS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
YOUTH PROTECTION: All BSA Youth Protection rules are in place. Any violation is grounds for ejection. No refunds will be issued. Full reporting and legal action will be taken as appropriate.
MEALS: One meal on Saturday is included in the registration fee. Lunch will be a served in the Court House Bay Marine Corps Dining Facility.
WATER: Each Scout should bring a water bottle. Ships are required to bring full water coolers to refill their Scouts individual water bottles. Please ensure your Ship number is written on any large water containers brought in (e.g., coolers).
ADULT SUPPORT: Per BSA regulations, each Scout unit must bring at least two adults. (Remember your unit’s YPT needs)
CONDUCT: We are guests on an active U.S. military facility. Obey all instructions given to you by Coast Guard, Coast Guard Auxiliary personnel and Marine Corps Personnel. Stay in the area immediately around the activities. Do not wander into any other areas or buildings. Collect your trash as we will have to clean up the facility before our departure. Failure to follow instructions may result in removal from the military base.

• If there are any questions, concerns, or problems, contact Pat Curley, AuxScout20@gmail.com as soon as possible. The check-in station will be manned during the day and will be a source of information for the Sea Scout community.
• All Scout adults are responsible for securing parental/guardian permission slips for each youth participant. Event leadership will not be responsible for obtaining or checking permission slip forms.
• Adults are responsible for monitoring the behavior of their unit’s Scouts. • Scouts should act like Scouts ("A Scout is courteous") and leave all areas better than they find them.
• Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune is an active military base, and all visitors must act accordingly. • For security purposes registration must include the names of all participating persons. • Firearms are prohibited.
• All Scouts must have: a completed photo release form, be in Scout uniform, water bottle, form of id.
• Unit leaders: please collect and hand in at check-in all photo release forms for your unit if they were not mailed in in advance; bring extra water in a full water cooler for your unit; be sure all your Scouts have permission slips.
